Professor Zaccheaus Awortu Jeremiah Ph.D, FIBMS,MNIM, FRCPath(London)
Professor Zaccheaus Awortu Jeremiah is a Professor of Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science at the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He acquired the Associate Diploma of the then Institute of Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar, Nigeria in 1993.
He had all his postgraduate trainings at the Rivers State University (formerly RSUST) between the year 2000 and 2006 and graduated with three certificates, PG.D, M.Sc. and Ph.D all in Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science. In 2011, he enrolled at the Royal College of Pathologists, London and after rigorous assessment in Haematology, he became the second Medical Laboratory Scientist in Nigeria to be awarded the Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (London) .Following this resounding success, the Institute of Biomedical Science, London admitted him a Fellow of the Institute in 2013.
Prof. Zaccheaus Awortu Jeremiah is a member of many professional bodies and widely travelled. He has supervised over 50 M.Sc. and PG.D students in hematology across the Nation’s Universities. He has successfully supervised and graduated over 10 Ph.D graduates from many Universities in Nigeria.
He has published over eighty five (85) full length papers and one inaugural lecture titled THE ORACLE IN THE BLOOD delivered as the 30th Inaugural lecture at Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island
He is a native of Asarama in Rivers State, Nigeria. He is very happily married to Mrs. Theresa A. Jeremiah and the marriage is blessed with four children, 3 Ladies and 1 gentleman.
He is the founding President of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Scientists Society of Nigeria and Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the same society (HBTSSN)
